The Saag & Corn Roti dinner kit is a delicious dish of dark leafy greens served with the lesser known corn chapatti (Makki di roti).

Saag was traditionally made with mustard leaves, spinach and fenugreek leaves and always . Makki di roti -the corn roti, is made from cornmeal and is the traditional accompaniment to Saag (spiced greens).

This is the hearty dish of working farmers and we give you the original recipe, as it was when our parents first arrived in England.

Each sachets serves 4 people. Method instructions come through via email, after purchase.

Saag freezes perfectly. Nothing artificial and made by us for you.

The real benefit of buying this dinner kit is for the traditional method instructions that come with it!

If you are a 1st or 2nd generation Punjabi who grew up eating this but don’t know how to make it, and don’t have family nearby, then this is for you!

This is also excellent for having ‘real’ bread for gluten-free people who can prepare and eat a delicious meal with the whole family.

Making Makki di roti, (corn chapatti), is not easy, but if you can give it a go with this kit, then we suggest further purchases should be for the individual Saag sachet bundles, and buy a large bag of Makki flour (fine cornmeal) from Asian supermarkets.

How do I know what to do with the meal sachets?

You receive e-instructions for the meal sachets. These tell you:

  • How long prep and cooking takes

  • The ingredients list

  • The step-by-step method instructions

  • What to do if you only want to cook or eat 1 or 2 portions at a time

I have a special dietary requirement

  • Dairy-free – only if you swap out the ghee for sunflower oil and swap butter for dairy-free butter alternative of your choice

Ghee, onion, garlic, ginger, chilli, fresh greens, butter.

Storage & shelf life

Store the dinner kit in pantry-like conditions, a cool dark cupboard. Do not choose a cupboard that is next to your oven or an appliance that gives off heat, or a part of your kitchen where the sun shines on it.

The ‘best before’ dates on our products are always 6-12 months. There are no ‘use by’ dates, as we do not include anything perishable. Leaving you to add fresh ingredients gives you the best value and freedom to choose when to cook your dinner kit. This ensures no food waste.
